HubSpot integration
Sync video and text testimonials to the matching HubSpot contact — rating, video link, status and optional AI insights — with OAuth, no Zapier.
Short answer
VideoTestimonials connects to HubSpot with OAuth and writes each testimonial to the HubSpot contact with the same email address, creating the contact if none exists. It sets name, company and job title plus ten testimonial properties such as rating, video URL and status, can add AI sentiment and tags, and can log a note on the contact's timeline. Sync runs when a testimonial is submitted, approved or rejected. It's part of the Business plan.
- Plan
- Business plan
- Set up in
- Dashboard → Integrations → Connect & Share → HubSpot
- Direction
- Testimonials flow one way, from VideoTestimonials to HubSpot. Edits made in HubSpot don't change the testimonial. Contacts can be imported from HubSpot on demand.
How to connect HubSpot
- 1In the dashboard, open Integrations → Connect & Share and choose HubSpot.
- 2Click Connect and approve access in HubSpot. VideoTestimonials asks for contact read and write access and contact property access.
- 3On connect, VideoTestimonials creates ten contact properties in your portal, such as vt_testimonial_rating, vt_video_url and vt_sentiment.
- 4Under Sync Settings, turn on Enable Auto-Sync and choose the triggers: Sync on testimonial created, Sync on testimonial approved, and Sync on status change (rejected/archived).
- 5Optionally turn on Include AI insights and Create timeline notes, and change which HubSpot property each field writes to under Field Mapping.
- 6Use Manual Sync to push all approved testimonials in a space at once, and Sync History to see each result.
Available on Business plan ($79/month).

| Manual sync | One testimonial, a selection, or every approved testimonial in a space; failed syncs can be retried. |
What gets sent to HubSpot
- Matching
- The contact is found by the testimonial's email address and updated, or created if it doesn't exist. Testimonials without a valid email are skipped.
- Standard properties
- First name, last name, company and job title.
- Testimonial properties
- vt_testimonial_rating, vt_testimonial_type (video or text), vt_testimonial_status, vt_video_url, vt_testimonial_date and vt_testimonial_count.
- AI properties (optional)
- vt_sentiment, vt_sentiment_score, vt_testimonial_tags and vt_authenticity_score, when Include AI insights is on.
- Timeline note (optional)
- A note on the contact with the testimonial type, star rating, status, text, AI summary, sentiment, tags and video link.
- Contacts from HubSpot
- Import HubSpot contacts — name, email, company, phone and job title — into a space's contact list, to send them testimonial requests.
Good to know
- Only contact records are written — not companies or deals.
- A testimonial without an email address can't be matched to a contact, so it is skipped.
- One HubSpot portal per VideoTestimonials account.
- Each sync event updates the contact again; with timeline notes on, a testimonial that is submitted and later approved adds two notes.
HubSpot integration: frequently asked questions
Does the HubSpot integration need Zapier?
No. It's a direct OAuth connection between VideoTestimonials and your HubSpot portal.
Will it create new contacts in HubSpot?
Yes. If no contact has the testimonial's email address, a new contact is created with the testimonial's details.
Can I choose which HubSpot properties are filled?
Yes. Field Mapping lets you send each testimonial field to a different HubSpot property, or keep the default vt_ properties created on connect.
Is the HubSpot sync two-way?
No. Testimonials are written from VideoTestimonials to HubSpot. You can import HubSpot contacts into VideoTestimonials separately, to request testimonials from them.
Can I build HubSpot lists from testimonial data?
Yes. The testimonial properties are ordinary contact properties, so lists and workflows can filter on them — for example, contacts with vt_testimonial_rating of 5.
