VideoTestimonials vs Trustindex: Detailed Comparison for 2026
Trustindex aggregates reviews from 133 platforms for a few dollars a month. VideoTestimonials collects original video. A comparison of aggregation versus creation, and why the price gap is smaller than it looks.

Short answer
Trustindex aggregates existing reviews from many platforms for a few dollars a month — it displays what others already wrote. VideoTestimonials collects original video from your own customers. Aggregation and creation are different jobs, and the price gap reflects that.

Competitor pricing and features were verified on 1 September 2026. Visit each platform's website for current information.
A note on naming before anything else, because it causes real confusion. This page compares Trustindex, the review aggregation platform at trustindex.io. There is a separate, unrelated product called Trust at usetrust.io which is a video testimonial tool. They are different companies. The domain trust.io does not resolve to either.
With that out of the way: Trustindex and VideoTestimonials do genuinely different things, and the price difference reflects that rather than a quality gap.
Core Philosophy Differences
Trustindex's Approach
Trustindex is an aggregation and display layer. It connects to 133 review platforms — Google, Facebook, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Booking, Trustpilot, and a long tail of niche and regional sites — pulls in the reviews that already exist about you, and renders them as widgets on your website.
It does not ask anyone for anything. There is no collection form, no invitation flow, no recording. The premise is that reviews about your business already exist scattered across the internet, and the useful job is gathering them into one attractive place.
For a restaurant, a hotel, a dentist or a local service business, that premise is usually correct. The reviews genuinely do already exist, in volume, on Google.
VideoTestimonials' Approach
VideoTestimonials assumes the testimonial you most want does not exist yet, because nobody leaves an unprompted three-minute video review on Google.
So the product is a collection engine: a branded form, prompts, browser recording with no app or login, an approval queue, transcription, AI highlights, an editor, an image studio, and widgets to publish the result. It also imports from 18 review sources, so it covers a subset of what Trustindex does — but importing is a feature, not the point.
Feature-by-Feature Comparison
| Feature | VideoTestimonials | Trustindex |
|---|---|---|
| Collect original testimonials | Yes | No |
| Video testimonial recording | Yes | No |
| Review platform imports | 18 sources | 133 platforms |
| Widget layouts | 10+ types | 36 layouts |
| Wall of Love | Yes | No |
| Video editor | Yes | No |
| AI features | Transcription, highlights, summaries | AI review replies |
| Image studio | 50+ templates | Review image generator |
| Social feed widgets | No | Yes |
| Free tier | Yes | Yes |
| Pricing | $24/mo entry | $65/year entry |
Where Trustindex Is Genuinely Better
Platform coverage. 133 against our 18 is not close. If your reviews sit on a regional booking site or an industry directory we do not support, Trustindex probably covers it and we do not.
Widget layout variety. 36 layouts, well designed, with a lot of control over presentation.
Price. $65 a year is roughly five dollars a month. For a local business that just wants its Google reviews on its homepage, this is the correct tool and the correct price, and there is no argument to make against it.
AI review replies. Drafting responses to inbound reviews is a real chore for businesses with volume, and Trustindex addresses it directly. We do not do this at all.
Where the Gap Opens
Trustindex cannot get you a video. It also cannot get you a testimonial about anything a Google review would not naturally cover.
That second point is underrated. Google reviews say "great service, friendly staff." They rarely say "we cut onboarding from three weeks to four days and here is how." The testimonial that actually sells a B2B product is one you asked specific questions to get — and asking is the thing Trustindex does not do.
Everything downstream follows from that. No collection means no approval queue, no transcription, no highlight extraction, no editor — because there is no original footage to process.
Pricing Comparison
| Tier | Trustindex | VideoTestimonials |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Yes | $0 — 20 text + 10 video |
| Entry | Single $65/year — 1 domain | Starter $24/mo |
| Mid | Pro $125/year — 5 domains | Pro $49/mo |
| Top | Ultimate $349/year — unlimited domains | Business $79/mo |
The comparison looks lopsided and in one sense it is: $65 a year against $288 a year. But you are buying different things. Trustindex's price is low because displaying existing content is a fundamentally cheaper problem than collecting, processing and publishing new video.
If aggregation is all you need, paying four times more for collection features you will not use would be a bad decision.
When to Choose Trustindex
- You already have plenty of reviews on Google, Facebook or Yelp
- You want them on your website attractively and cheaply
- You are a local business where review volume arrives naturally
- Your reviews live on niche platforms outside our 18 supported sources
- You want AI help replying to inbound reviews
- Video is not part of your plan
When to Choose VideoTestimonials
- You need original testimonials, not aggregated ones
- Video is the format you want
- Your best customers would say something specific if asked, and nobody has asked
- You are B2B, where Google review volume is thin and generic
- You want transcription, highlights, quote graphics and an editor
- Google, G2, Trustpilot and Capterra cover your existing reviews already
The Verdict
For a local business with 200 Google reviews, Trustindex at $65 a year is the right answer and this comparison should end there.
For a B2B company with eleven Google reviews that all say "good product," aggregation has nothing to aggregate. The testimonials that would move a prospect do not exist yet, and no display tool creates them.
The question is not which product is better. It is whether your proof already exists. If it does, display it cheaply. If it does not, you need something that can go and get it.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between VideoTestimonials and Trustindex?+
Trustindex aggregates reviews that already exist. It connects to 133 platforms, pulls in what people have written about you on Google, Facebook, Yelp and the rest, and displays them as widgets. It does not collect anything new. VideoTestimonials collects original testimonials, including video, directly from your customers.
Is Trustindex cheaper than VideoTestimonials?+
Substantially, and it is priced annually rather than monthly. Single is 65 dollars a year for one domain, Pro is 125 for five domains and Ultimate is 349 for unlimited. VideoTestimonials is 24 dollars a month at the entry tier. If all you need is Google reviews on your site, Trustindex is very hard to beat on price.
Does Trustindex collect video testimonials?+
No. Trustindex is a display and aggregation layer for existing written reviews. There is no recording flow, so if you want customers on camera you need a separate tool.
Which has better widgets?+
Trustindex has more layouts — 36 against our 10-plus widget types — and they are well made. Ours are built to display video alongside text, which is a different requirement. On pure written-review layout variety, Trustindex wins.
Can I use both?+
Yes, though there is overlap. VideoTestimonials imports from 18 review sources including Google, so for many businesses one tool covers both the imported reviews and the original video. Trustindex makes sense alongside if you need coverage of niche platforms outside those 18, or if you want its specific widget layouts.
