Add video and text testimonials to BigCommerce with Script Manager and a Page Builder HTML widget.

Short answer

On a BigCommerce Stencil theme, load embed.js once with Script Manager (Storefront › Script Manager › Create a Script, URL https://videotestimonials.video/embed.js, footer, async), then open Storefront › Themes › Edit in Page Builder, drag an HTML widget onto the page and paste the widget's <div> into it. Save the HTML and publish.

How to add testimonials to BigCommerce

Where to put testimonials on BigCommerce

A widget on any storefront page

Testimonials on the home page, product pages, category pages or web pages.

In VideoTestimonials, open Studio → Widgets, open your widget and copy the code from its Code tab. It has two parts: a <div data-vt-widget …></div> and a <script> line.
In BigCommerce, go to Storefront › Script Manager and click Create a Script.
Enter a script name, set Placement to Footer, Location to Storefront pages, Script category to Functional, and choose the URL script type with https://videotestimonials.video/embed.js. Set Load Method to Async and click Save.
Go to Storefront › Themes and click Edit in Page Builder.
Drag the HTML widget from the Page Builder menu into a region on the page.
Paste only the <div data-vt-widget …></div> part of the code and click Save HTML.
Publish your changes.

The script only needs adding once; every HTML widget with a widget <div> on a storefront page then renders.

Good to know before you start

Page Builder and Script Manager require a Stencil theme.
If your store's cookie consent banner is on, shoppers who opt out of Functional scripts won't load the widget.
Script Manager's Storefront pages location excludes checkout and order confirmation pages.
