What Are Multi-Video Testimonials?
Multi-video testimonials let you ask your customers multiple questions, each with its own video response. Instead of a single long recording, your customer answers each question separately — making it easier for them and giving you more structured, usable content.
All responses from one customer are stored as a single testimonial entry. VideoTestimonials automatically stitches the individual clips into a multiclip — one combined video with smooth crossfade transitions.
Why Multi-Video?
- Higher completion rates — short per-question videos feel less intimidating than one long recording
- Better content — structured answers are more focused and quotable
- Flexible display — show the full multiclip, individual clips, or just the primary response
- AI-powered — each video gets its own transcript, subtitles, and Studio access
Setting Up Your Form
Multi-video works through the Form Builder. Each question in your form can accept video, text, or both.
Create or edit a form
Go to your space in the dashboard and navigate to Forms. Create a new form or edit an existing one. The form builder lets you add multiple questions — each one becomes a separate step in the collection flow.
Add your questions
Add the questions you want your customers to answer on video. Good multi-video forms typically have 2-4 questions. Here are some proven combinations:
- "What problem were you trying to solve?" — sets context
- "How has our product helped you?" — the core testimonial
- "What would you tell someone considering us?" — the recommendation
Configure video and text options
For each question, you can choose whether to allow video only, text only, or both. When both are enabled, your customer sees a beautiful selector letting them choose how to respond.
You can also mix and match — for example, have the first question accept video while follow-up questions accept text.
Pro Tip
Keep your form to 2-4 video questions maximum. More than that and completion rates drop significantly. If you need additional information, use text questions for the less critical ones.
How Recording Works
When a customer fills out your form, they step through each question one at a time. For questions that accept video, they see the full video recorder with all your enabled features — screen recording, background blur, teleprompter, and more.
Customer sees the question
Each question is presented on its own screen with the question text, any helper tips you've added, and the video/text selector.
They record their response
The video recorder opens with all your configured options. They record, preview, choose a thumbnail, and confirm. Each recording is independent — they can retake any individual answer without affecting others.
They move to the next question
After confirming, they advance to the next question. The process repeats for each video-enabled question. A progress indicator shows how many steps remain.
Review and submit
On the final screen, they see a summary showing how many video responses they recorded, along with any text answers. They fill in their details (name, email, etc.) and submit.
The Multiclip: Auto-Stitched Video
When a testimonial has more than one video, VideoTestimonials automatically generates a multiclip — a single combined video that stitches all the per-question clips together with smooth crossfade transitions.
How Multiclip Works
- All per-question videos are downloaded and normalized (same resolution, frame rate, codec)
- Videos are concatenated in question order with 0.3-second crossfade transitions
- The result is uploaded and stored as the
multiclip_urlon the testimonial - Generation happens automatically in the background after submission
The multiclip is perfect for embedding — it tells the complete story in one seamless video.
Dashboard: Managing Multi-Video Testimonials
In your dashboard, multi-video testimonials show up with a few enhancements:
Video Card
The main video card shows the clip count (e.g., "2 clips") and whether the multiclip is ready. Two buttons are available:
- Watch — plays the multiclip if available, otherwise the primary video
- Studio — opens Video Studio for the multiclip or primary video
If a multiclip exists, a "Watch primary video only" link lets you view just the first response.
Custom Responses Section
Expand the custom responses to see each per-question video individually. Each video has:
- An auto-generated thumbnail (captured from the video)
- A play button that opens the video in the full modal with Studio access
- The question text and any text answer alongside it
AI Processing
When you run AI processing on a multi-video testimonial, every video gets transcribed individually. Each per-question video receives its own:
- Transcript
- Subtitle segments (for Studio subtitles)
- Word-level timestamps (for precise clip editing)
The overall AI analysis (summary, sentiment, highlights, smart tags) uses the combined transcript from all videos.
Pro Tip
After submitting a multi-video testimonial, click the AI process button to generate transcripts for all videos. This enables subtitles in Studio for each individual clip.
Widget Display Modes
The most powerful part of multi-video testimonials is how flexibly you can display them in your embed widgets (Wall of Love, Carousel, Grid, etc.).
In your widget settings, the Multi-Video Display dropdown controls the behavior:
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Auto (default) | Shows the multiclip if available, otherwise the primary video |
| Primary video only | Always shows just the first video response |
| Show all as separate cards | Creates a separate widget card for each video response |
| Always use Multiclip | Forces the multiclip (same as Auto but won't fall back) |
Auto Mode (Recommended)
The default Auto mode is the smartest option:
- Single video testimonials — shows that video normally
- Multi-video testimonials with multiclip — shows the stitched multiclip
- Multi-video testimonials without multiclip yet — falls back to the primary video
This means your widgets always show the best available content without any manual configuration.
Show All as Separate Cards
This mode "explodes" each multi-video testimonial into separate cards — one per video response. The same customer appears multiple times, each with a different video and the corresponding question as a label. This is great for Wall of Love pages where you want maximum content density.
Best Practices
Form Design Tips
- Lead with the most important question — the first video becomes the "primary" used in widgets by default
- Keep questions specific — "How did our product help with X?" gets better answers than "Tell us about your experience"
- Use 2-3 video questions max — respect your customer's time
- Mix video and text — use text for simple questions like job title or how they found you
Display Tips
- Use Auto mode for most widgets — it handles single and multi-video testimonials gracefully
- Use "Show all" mode on dedicated testimonial pages where you want lots of content
- Process AI on multi-video testimonials to unlock per-video subtitles and Studio features
- Edit the multiclip in Studio to add branding, subtitles, or trim before embedding
