Template
Hi {customer_name},
Thanks for being a {company_name} customer! We're glad to have you.
I have a small favor to ask: would you mind leaving us a review on {review_platform}?
Your review helps other {target_audience} discover us and makes a huge difference for our small team. It takes about 2 minutes:
š Leave a review here: {review_platform_link}
Not sure what to write? Here are some ideas:
- What problem did {product/service} solve for you?
- What's your favorite feature or aspect?
- Would you recommend us? Why?
Even a few sentences make a real impact. Thank you so much!
Best,
{your_name}
{company_name}Tips for Using This Template
Link directly to the review form on the platform, not just the platform's homepage. Every extra click reduces completion rates dramatically.
Include 'idea starters' so customers don't face a blank text box. Writer's block is the #1 reason people abandon review forms.
Focus on one platform at a time. Asking customers to review you on multiple platforms in one email overwhelms them and reduces completion.
Time this email after a positive interaction -- a successful support ticket, a product milestone, or a compliment from the customer.
When to Use This Template
Send after a customer has had a positive experience, ideally 2-4 weeks after purchase or after a successful support interaction. For SaaS products, after reaching a usage milestone or a positive NPS score. For service businesses, within 1 week of service completion.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which review platform should I prioritize?
For local businesses, Google Reviews are most important for SEO and visibility. For B2B SaaS, G2 and Capterra drive qualified leads. For restaurants and hospitality, Yelp and TripAdvisor matter most. Focus on the platform where your target audience searches for solutions like yours.
Is it okay to ask for 5-star reviews specifically?
No. Asking for a specific rating violates most platform guidelines and FTC regulations. Ask for an honest review based on their experience. You can filter who you send requests to (only satisfied customers), but the request itself should be neutral.
How many review requests should I send per customer?
One request with one follow-up, maximum. Repeatedly asking for reviews is annoying and can feel desperate. If a customer doesn't leave a review after two asks, they're not going to, and continued requests risk damaging the relationship.
