Import testimonials from Facebook

Updated

Short answer

VideoTestimonials has no dedicated Facebook importer: the Social Media tab covers Twitter/X, TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn only. For Facebook reviews, posts or comments, take a screenshot and upload it under Dashboard → Import → Manual → Screengrabs, where AI reads the text, name and rating. For a fully public post, you can also try Reviews & Other → Any URL, though results vary.

Facebook import is not currently available as a dedicated button in the import UI. The Social Media tab covers Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok. For Facebook posts, use one of these workarounds:

Workaround 1: Manual screengrab (best for most Facebook content)

  1. Go to Dashboard → Import → Manual and open the Screengrabs tab.
  2. Take a screenshot of the Facebook post, comment, or review.
  3. Upload the image — AI reads the screenshot and extracts the quote. See Manual screengrab import.

Workaround 2: Any URL

If the Facebook post is fully public and has a clean URL, try the Any URL option:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Import → Reviews & Other.
  2. Pick Any URL and paste the Facebook post URL.
  3. Click Import testimonials. Results depend on the post's public visibility and Facebook's rate limits.

Private or restricted content

Anything behind a login wall or inside a private group can't be scraped. Fall back to a screenshot.

Why isn't Facebook a dedicated button?

Facebook's login-wall and rate-limiting make reliable public scraping difficult. We may ship a dedicated button later; for now the screengrab workflow is the most dependable path.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a Facebook review by hand and keep its source?

Yes. On Dashboard → Import → Manual, use the Text testimonial tab: paste the review, add the reviewer's name, rating and date, set Testimonial Source to Facebook and paste the link in Post URL. It's saved as an approved testimonial.

How does screenshot import read a Facebook post?

Each uploaded screenshot becomes its own testimonial. VideoTestimonials sends the image to an AI vision model that pulls out the testimonial text plus the reviewer's name, role and star rating when it can see them. If nothing can be read, the testimonial is saved with placeholder text that you can edit.

Can I import posts from a private Facebook group?

No. Anything behind Facebook's login wall, including private groups and friends-only posts, can't be fetched with the Any URL option. Upload a screenshot on the Screengrabs tab instead; it works for any content you can see on your own screen.
