Import testimonials from Capterra

Updated

Short answer

VideoTestimonials imports Capterra reviews from your product URL. In Dashboard → Import → Reviews & Other, click Capterra, paste a link like capterra.com/p/123456/your-product/ and click Import testimonials. Because Capterra blocks scrapers, the importer first looks for the same product on GetApp, which shows the same reviews, then falls back to the Capterra page. Pick the reviews you want and import them.

Capterra reviews are among the most trusted in B2B SaaS. VideoTestimonials can import them directly into your space.

How to import Capterra reviews

  1. Go to Dashboard → Import → Reviews & Other.
  2. Click the Capterra tile and paste your Capterra product URL, for example https://www.capterra.com/p/123456/your-product/.
  3. Click Import testimonials, then tick the reviews you want and click Import.

A note on how this works

Capterra is protected by Cloudflare and blocks direct scraping. Capterra is owned by Gartner, which also owns GetApp — the two sites share the same review database. Our scraper detects a Capterra URL, extracts the product slug, and tries the matching GetApp review page (in ten common software categories) instead.

If no GetApp page matches, we fall back to scraping the Capterra page directly.

Supported URL formats

  • https://www.capterra.com/p/<id>/<product-slug>/reviews/

What gets imported

  • Review text, with the review title on top when the page shows one
  • Reviewer name, plus role and company when the page shows them
  • Star rating (out of 5), when the page shows it
  • Review date and reviewer photo, when available

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Capterra import look at GetApp?

Capterra sits behind Cloudflare and blocks scrapers. Capterra and GetApp are both Gartner sites that show the same reviews, so the importer takes the product slug from your Capterra URL and tries the matching GetApp review page in ten common software categories. If none matches, it scrapes the Capterra URL directly.

Which Capterra URL should I paste?

Use the product page or its reviews page, for example capterra.com/p/123456/your-product/ or the same link ending in /reviews/. The importer needs the /p/ number and product slug in the URL to find the matching GetApp page; other Capterra links go straight to the fallback scraper.

Can Capterra reviews be imported automatically?

Yes. Capterra is in the Auto-Import platform list. Connect your Capterra URL under Dashboard → Import → Auto-Import and choose Daily or Weekly. Scheduled checks run the general review scraper on that URL, skip reviews already in the space, and add new ones unapproved for you to review.
