Set up Auto-Import for review sites

You will learn how to set up Auto-Import for review sites, allowing you to automatically pull new reviews daily with minimal effort.

What is Auto-Import?

Auto-Import is a feature that connects your review site URLs to VideoTestimonials. Once set up, it will automatically scrape new reviews from these sources daily or weekly, saving you time and ensuring your testimonials are always up-to-date.

Scope: Auto-Import covers the platforms in the Reviews & Other tab. It does not work for the four Social Media platforms (Twitter/X, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn). For those, import posts one at a time from the Social Media tab, or use Auto-discover mentions to surface brand mentions across the web.

How to Set Up Auto-Import

Follow these steps to connect your review sites for Auto-Import:

Step 1: Access the Import Section

1. Log in to your VideoTestimonials account at https://app.videotestimonials.video.
2. Navigate to the Import section from the dashboard.

Step 2: Connect a Review Source

1. Click the Auto-Import tab.
2. Click the Connect Source button to open the modal.

Step 3: Choose Your Review Platform

1. Pick the platform from the grid (Google, G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, Yelp, Amazon, App Store, Google Play, Product Hunt, Reddit, YouTube, AppSumo, TrustRadius, GetApp, Udemy, Skillshare, Apple Podcasts, Zillow, Realtor.com, Fiverr, WordPress, SourceForge, Chrome Web Store, HomeStars, or Any URL as a fallback).
2. Paste the source URL for your review page. The placeholder shows the expected format per platform.

Step 4: Set Scrape Interval

1. Pick a scrape interval:
   • Daily — pull new reviews every day.
   • Weekly — pull new reviews once a week.
2. Click Connect & Start Importing to save and start the first scrape.

Step 5: Monitor your sources

1. Each connected source shows its status (active / paused / error) and last scrape time.
2. Use the Pause / Resume button to stop scraping without deleting the source.
3. Click Delete to remove a source permanently.

Troubleshooting

• Errors show the reason inline on the source row (last_error).
• Double-check the source URL matches the placeholder for that platform.
• Some platforms (Google Play, Capterra) throttle aggressive scraping — expect occasional retries.
