Consent, privacy, and GDPR — form blocks

Updated

Short answer

VideoTestimonials forms include a Consent page where the customer must pick public or private use before continuing, and an optional Private Feedback page for notes meant only for you. Edit both by clicking their blocks on the form builder's Form tab. The choice is saved with the submission, but walls and widgets show approved testimonials, so approval is what controls publishing.

You can't publish a customer's face and words without their permission. The Consent page asks the customer whether the testimonial can be used publicly, and the Private Feedback page gives customers an always-optional channel to share thoughts that stay private.

Click CONSENT PAGE on the form canvas. The right sidebar exposes:

  • Page Title — the heading on the page. Default: Visibility & Usage.
  • Subtitle — short supporting copy.
  • Public consent label — the label on the "publish this testimonial publicly" option.
  • Private consent label — the label on the "keep this private to your team" option.
  • Call to Action — the button that takes the customer to the next page.

The customer must pick public or private before continuing, and the choice is saved with the submission. Publishing is controlled by approval: Walls of Love and widgets show the testimonials you approve, so a submission only goes public once it's approved (by you, or automatically when the form's Auto-approve setting is on). The AI Video Creator skips testimonials marked private.

Use the block toggle on the page header to include or exclude the Consent page entirely.

Private Feedback page

A separate always-optional page where the customer can leave private thoughts alongside their testimonial. Click PRIVATE FEEDBACK PAGE to edit:

  • Page Title, Subtitle, Call to Action
  • Placeholder — the hint shown inside the text box

Whatever the customer types here stays internal — it never publishes. You'll find it on the Feedback tab of the testimonial's detail page.

Solid consent copy names the publisher (your brand), states where you'll use the testimonial (site, marketing, social), and is actively worded ("I give permission…" not "I won't object…"). Edit the public label and subtitle in the sidebar to match your voice.

Frequently asked questions

Can customers skip the consent question?

Not while the Consent page is on: its Continue button stays disabled until the customer picks the public or the private option. You can switch the whole page off with the toggle on its block in the builder; submissions from that form are then recorded as public use.

Where does private feedback show up?

Text from the Private Feedback page is stored separately from the testimonial and appears on the Feedback tab of that testimonial's detail page. It is never used as the testimonial text, so it doesn't appear on walls or widgets even when the testimonial itself is approved.

What should I do if a customer withdraws consent?

Delete the testimonial from Overview or from its detail page. Deleting removes it from every wall and widget and also clears its stored main video, thumbnail and photo files. Deletion can't be undone.
