Can each product show its own testimonials?

Yes. Create a separate product template in the theme editor with its own widget, then assign it to the product under Theme template in your Shopify admin. Or keep one template and wrap each product's snippet in a Liquid condition on product.handle. The Single widget shows one chosen testimonial, which suits a specific product.

Do I need a Shopify app?

No. The widget is a div and a script tag pasted into a Custom Liquid section, which Online Store 2.0 themes such as Dawn include. VideoTestimonials isn't in the Shopify App Store yet, so there's nothing to install.

Will the widget slow down my product page?

The script loads with the async attribute, so your page renders without waiting for it. Add the widget to the product template that needs it rather than the header or footer, which load on every page of your store.

Add testimonials to a Shopify product page

A VideoTestimonials widget works on any Shopify theme that lets you add a Custom Liquid section, which includes Online Store 2.0 themes such as Dawn. You paste the same two-line embed code you'd use on any website.

In your space, open Studio, go to Widgets and click New Widget.
Pick a widget type. Carousel and Grid suit a product page; Single features one chosen testimonial.
Set the colors and filters (type, minimum rating, or AI tags on Pro), then copy the embed code from the widget editor.

The code is a div that marks where the widget goes and a script tag that loads it:

Add it to every product page

In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store.
Find your theme and click Edit theme.
In the template menu at the top (it starts on Home page), choose Products, then your default product template.
In the sidebar, click Add section, search for Custom Liquid and select it.
Paste the embed code into the section's Liquid field.
Drag the section to where you want it, for example just below the product information, and click Save.

The widget now shows on every product that uses this template.

Give one product its own testimonials

Option 1: a separate template. In the theme editor's template menu, choose Products, then Create template. Name it, base it on your default product template, add a Custom Liquid section with that product's widget, and save. Then, in your Shopify admin, open the product, choose the new template in the Theme template menu of its Online Store section, and save.

Option 2: one section with Liquid conditions. Keep a single Custom Liquid section and show a different widget per product by its handle. To feature one testimonial, open it in your VideoTestimonials dashboard, click Share, and copy the Embed testimonial code, which is a Single widget with that testimonial's ID:

Older (vintage) themes

If your theme has no Custom Liquid section on product pages, it's a vintage theme. Paste the embed code into the product template file using Edit code on the theme, or ask your theme developer to place it. Duplicate the theme first so you can roll back.

Tips

Put testimonials close to the Add to cart button, where buyers make the decision.
Check the product page on a phone after saving; widgets are responsive and the carousel supports swiping.
Leave the widget's Rich Snippets setting off on Shopify product pages. Themes such as Dawn already output product structured data, and the widget's would add a second product named after your space.
